Reading Response Week 9

  1. “Beautiful as the chance encounter of a sewing machine and anĀ umbrella on an operating table”
Why does this seem beautiful and poetic without me actually seeing the composition?
Why am I not imagining this not working out?
Is it just the way it is phrased?
Can I make art by simply describing an idea?
  2. Does commodifying art reduce its value?
Can the gift and the commodity exchange economies coexist within an artwork without a loss in value of either economy?
  3. Why is the word “the” highlighted throughout the article?
Did that become the law of the article I slowly accepted as I read through it?
    Am I ok with it?
